What is the difference between WhatApp Group and Broadcast?

If we see the menu of newer version of WhatsApp, we see "New Group" and "New Broadcast". We are familiar with "groups". So,  what is a "Broadcast" and what is the difference between WhatsApp's Group and broadcast message?
Whatsapp Group:
Whatsapp group is a many-to-many tpye of communication. Members added to a group can send message to the group and all the members see the messages from any one.

Whatsapp Broadcast:
Whatsapp Broadcast is a one-to-many type of communication. Which means, a person who created the broadcast list can send messages to all the members added to the list. The message will appear to the recipient as normal message from the sender. Also when a member replies to the message, the reply is only sent to only the broadcaster as a regular one-to-one message from the person. The other members the broadcast list don't see the responses.

To create a Broadcast List:

  • Open WhatsApp.
  • Go to the Chats screen > Menu Button > New broadcast.
  • Tap + or type in contact names to choose recipients from your contact list.
  • Tap Done.
  • Tap Create.

Note: Only contacts who have added you to their phone's address book will receive your broadcast message. If your contact is not getting your broadcast messages, check to make sure they have added you to their address book.

Editing a Broadcast List

  • Open your Broadcast List.
  • Tap the Menu Button > Broadcast list info.
  • In the Broadcast list info screen you can:
  • Change the name of your Broadcast List by tapping the  Pencil icon.
  • Add recipients to the list by tapping on the Add recipient... button.
  • Remove recipients by tapping, holding and selecting Remove {recipient} from broadcast list.

Uses of Broadcast:
Broadcast is beneficial when you need to send frequently send messages to the same people. This I find is useful for sending message forwards that we do often. So instead of forwarding a single message to some people one by one, just create a broadcast if you send to them often.
