Google Adsense is the biggest online advisement network and is a good source of revenue for people who own blogs and websites. Almost all websites today have at least a Google Adsense ad displayed on their webpages. In this post, we shall discuss how to setup Google Adsense on Blogger blogs.

Before we proceed, it is assumed that you have already signed up for Google Adsense account and that Google has already approved your Google Adsense.

How to setup Google Adsense in Blogger?


If you already have a Google Adsense account, there are two ways to setup Google Adsense on Blogger -
  • From within Blogger (Show Ads on Blog) or
  • Manually. 
You can enable Google Adsense on Blogger from any other above ways. But it is not recommended to use both together.

1) Setup Google Adsense on Blogger from within Blogger:

1.1) Setting up Google Adsense Ads on the blog:
  • Sign in to Blogger.
  • If you have multiple blogs under the same account, from the top left, click the Down arrow and select the blog on which to run ads on.
  • In the left menu, click Earnings
  • On the "Your AdSense ad display settings" page:
  • If you already have a Google Adsense account approved on the same Google account, you should be able to see the Account ID at the bottom.
    • At "Show ads on blog", Select YES.

  • If you do not already have a Google Adsense account:
    • Click Sign up for AdSense.
    • If you don’t see the button, it means your blog might not qualify for AdSense. Check the AdSense eligibility checklist to find out why.
    • Fill out the form with your Google Account or create a new one.
    • Google will review the application before enabling. It can take at least 48 hours for the application to be reviewed.
After the above ad settings, it is time to display Ads on the blog.

1.2) Displaying Google Adsense in between posts

If you want to show ads in between posts on the home page feed or in search or archive pages, then you can enable to show ads between posts.
  • Sign in to Blogger if not already.
  • If you have multiple blogs under the same account, from the top left, click the Down arrow and select the blog on which to run ads on.
  • In the left menu, click Layout.
  • Depending on the Blogger template in use:
    • In "Blog Posts" under "Page Body," click Edit.
    • In "Blog Posts" under "Main," click Edit.
  • In the window that appears, check the box next to "Show Ads Between Posts."
  • Setup to show ads after every N posts.
  • Choose the ad format, colors etc.
  • Click Save.

1.3) Show Ads in various widget areas using Blogger Adsense widgets

Blogger has various widget areas where you can add various types of widgets provided by Blogger. Blogger also has Google Adsense widgets which you can add to show Google Adsense ads in various areas of the layout page.
  • Sign in to Blogger if not already.
  • If you have multiple blogs under the same account, from the top left, click the Down arrow and select the blog on which to run ads on.
  • In the left menu, click Layout.
  • Click Add a Gadget.
  • Select the AdSense gadget and click Add.
  • Configure AdSense to select ad size, template and click Save.
  • In the top right, click Save arrangement.


2) Setup Google Adsense in Blogger Manually

As discussed above, Google Adsense can be setup from within Blogger to display Google Adsense Ads automatically between posts and also using widgets. However, in some cases, the Google ads displayed may not be in areas you desire. Or if "Show ads between posts is enabled" but your Blogger template has grid layout then there could be some interference in the overall design of the blog. In such cases, you may want to control the display of ads. In which case, you can setup Google Adsense manually also.

To setup Google Adsense manually in Blogger, do the following:

2.1) Turn off "Show ads on blog" if already enabled.
  • Sign in to Blogger.
  • If you have multiple blogs under the same account, from the top left, click the Down arrow and select the blog on which to run ads are enabled.
  • In the left menu, click Earnings
  • On the "Your AdSense ad display settings" page:
  • If you already have a Google Adsense account approved on the same Google account, you should be able to see the Account ID at the bottom.
    • At "Show ads on blog", Select NO.
    • Click SAVE SETTINGS from top right corner
  2.2) Turn off "Show Ads between posts" if enabled previously
  • Sign in to Blogger if not already.
  • If you have multiple blogs under the same account, from the top left, click the Down arrow and select the blog on which to run ads are enabled.
  • In the left menu, click Layout.
  • Depending on the Blogger template in use:
    • In "Blog Posts" under "Page Body," click Edit.
    • In "Blog Posts" under "Main," click Edit.
  • In the window that appears, UNCHECK the box next to "Show Ads Between Posts."
  • Click SAVE.
 2.3) Remove any Blogger Google Adsense widgets if added

  • Sign in to Blogger if not already.
  • If you have multiple blogs under the same account, from the top left, click the Down arrow and select the blog on which to run ads are enabled.
  • In the left menu, click Layout.
  • Find the Blogger Google Adsense previously added 
  • Click on the edit pencil icon
  • Scroll down and click REMOVE
  • Click SAVE ARRANGEMENT
2.4 ) Create Google Adsense ads manually from Google Adsense

For this your Google Account should already have been approved by Google. Then, you need to create your own ad formats at adsense.google.com.

  • Login to your Google Adsense account
  • From the left sidebar, click on My Ads > Ad units
  • Click on New Ad Unit from the top
  • Name the Ad unit
  • You can create Responsive Ads (auto size) or ads of specific sizes and types.
  • Copy the Adsense code

2.5) Integrate Google Adsense Code to Blogger

For this, you should already have created Google Adsense Ad Units as mentioned in section 2.4 and the Google Adsense code copied from Google Adsense.
  • Come back to Blogger > Layout
  • Click on Add Gadget > Select HTML/JAVASCRIPT type of widget > paste code > save
    Rearrange the block to any area if you desire
  • Save Arrangements

After some time, Google Ads should start to display in the areas where you added the Google Adsese widgets.
