Issue: Blogger Templates does not show comments below post.
This is regarding an issue I encountered  when I was using a custom Blogger template (not the default templates provided by Blogger), where the comments were not visible below the post. Then entire comment box disappeared. In this post we shall see how it was resolved. If you faced a similar issue with custom Blogger theme / template, read on.

If you are facing a similar problem with custom theme where the comments are not appearing, here are a few things to check:

1) Check if your comments are hidden in Blogger settings

Blogger has settings to hide the comment section. If that is in cases 'hidden' the comment section will not appear of course.
  • Login to Blogger Dashboard > Settings > Posts, Comments and Sharing
  • In the 'Posts, Comments and Sharing' page, under 'Comments', look for 'Comment Location'. See if comment is set to hide.
  • If it is hidden, then set it to something else. Embedded (recommended) to show the comments in the same page below the post. Other options are Full Page and Pop-up Window.
2) See if Google+ comments is enabled.

Some custom Blogger templates does not work well when Google+ comments is enabled I noticed.
In my case, the comments started showing up after Google+ comment was disabled. As per tests, if Google+ comments is enabled in Blogger, then the comment form appears but not the comments.

Where to enable or disable Google+ comments on Blogger?
  • Login to Blogger Dashboard
  • On the left hands side, if you see 'Comments' in the sidebar menu, it means Google+ comment is not enabled.
  • On the left sidebar, if 'Comments' is not visible, it could mean that Google+ comments is enabled.
  • From the left sidebar, click Settings > Posts, Comments and Sharing and scroll down till you see "Google+ Comments" section. If it is 'Yes', it means Google+ comments is active. Set it to 'No' and test if comments are appearing properly or not.
After testing, here are the options:

  • If the Blogger comments disappear when you enable Google+ comments, contact the theme developers for solution.
  • If you do not need to use Google+ comments on your Blogger blog and if Blogger comments appear properly when Google+ is disabled, then disable Google+ comments as described above.
If you are unsure of which one to use - Blogger comments or Google+ comments, refer to the previous post: Google+ Comments vs Blogger Comments: Should you enable Google+ comments on Bloggers?
