In this post, we shall see how to change the default font in Microsoft Word? For example, I am currently using Microsoft Word 2007, and the default font is “Calibri” . But for most of my needs, I generally use “Times New Roman”. For similar reasons, if you need to change the default font, then do this (which you can also refer to Microsoft Word help.

  • Open Microsoft Word
  • On the Home tab, click the Font Dialog Box Launcher (a small arrow pointing downward), and then click the Font tab.

  • Select the font, font-size and any other formatting required
  • Click on the default button at the bottom

  • You will be prompted a warning that you are about to change the default font. If you get an option to choose "Only this Document" or "All other document", choose as per your requirement.
  • Click OK

Now when you open a new blank document, you should be able to see that the default font has changed to the one you set.
