Unable to send SMS

When you try to send an SMS, if you are getting “SMS not sent” or similar messages even though there is balance, then the most common cause is that the Message Centre number is not set or set incorrectly. Without the Message Centre number, you will not be able to send SMS. Although the Message Centre should be set automatically when installing a SIM on its own, if your SMSs are not going out, then you may check as described below.

A) Steps to check Message Centre number in your phone:
  •     Go to your Phone’s Main Menu
  •     Find Messaging (SMS)
  •     Go to Messaging Menu
  •     Settings
  •     Find “Message centre”
  •     There should be a number set in the Message Centre. If it's empty or blank, then you would need to enter the Message Centre number.

B) Steps to get the message centre:

  •     Switch off your mobile phone
  •     Remove the SIM card and reinsert it
  •     Power on your mobile phone
  •     Wait for the mobile phone to initialize. Wait for the network signal to show.
  •     Then follow the steps mentioned in the previous section to confirm if you have the Message Centre now
If you do not have the message centre number still, contact your local mobile service centre to get the number or if you have another SIM Card of the same service provider, insert that SIM Card and check the Message Centre number as described in step A.  Note the number on paper and setup manually as described in A.
